Destination Emory

Think of it as “Ecocommuting”

The Destination Emory commute network website is the most comprehensive and effective way to remain current in environmentally and socially responsible commuting. Your commitment and participation can help create standards that advance sustainable development and influence better policies.

In support of Emory’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives, we’re encouraging members of the Emory community and the Clifton Corridor to take advantage of the many commute options available.

Get your Bearings

Welcome to the Destination Emory website. This is a MicrosoftTM Virtual Earth map of greater metropolitan Atlanta area that has been populated with Emory commute options – MARTA and other public transit, Cliff Park-n-Ride lots, vanpools, and anonymous, secure links to Emory University employees that are potential carpool partners.

Calculate Your Savings

Destination Emory calculates the savings for your new carpool using some general assumptions. You may have a slightly different estimate of some of the factors involved. Use this spreadsheet to see how your savings have been calculated or to fine tune your savings.

MARTA transcards have unlimited uses during the month. Although you’ll use your transcard primarily to get to and from work, feel free to use it to ride MARTA to sporting and cultural events, shopping, the airport, or any other travel need that may be accommodated by MARTA. Contact MARTA at 404-848-5000 or www.itsmarta.com for more information.

Vanpool  Vanpool Program

Click on any vanpool icon on the map for information on joining or forming a vanpool.

Vanpools, like carpools and public transit, provide an alternative to driving solo. Emory's vanpool incentives program is designed to target employees who do not use public transit and who are seeking the added benefits that vanpools offer.

A vanpool is a group of seven to fifteen commuters who choose to ride to and from work together in a van. Several members of the group may register to drive the van. The cost of operating the vanpool is shared among the members. The number of participants and the round-trip commute mileage help to determine the cost of the vanpool. The whole group enjoys the economy of sharing expenses and the convenience of sharing a ride.
